Centre County West Nile Virus Surveillance and Control Program

On April 15, the 2013 Centre County West Nile Virus Surveillance and Control Season will begin. West Nile Virus (WNV) is a mosquito borne disease that produces severe neurological symptoms in about 1% of humans that become infected. The bite of a mosquito infected with the WNV is the way in which humans acquire the disease. There are about 50 species of mosquitoes in Pennsylvania, and of these, 12 are capable of infecting humans with WNV.

Penns Creek Road Closed for Bridge Replacement - Penn Township

The Township received word from Nestlerode Contracting Co. that they will be closing SR-2012 (Penns Creek Road) in Penn Township between Beaver Dam Road and Lingle Valley Road. Emergency Vehichles will have access to all driveways and homes on either side of Penns Creek but will not be able to cross over Penns Creek in this location. The planned detour route is Beave Dam road and will be properly signed as such.

This project is for the replacement of the bridge structure over Penns Creek for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation. The bridge will be out and the detour will be in effect from May 1st, 2013 through November 22, 2013.

Harter Road Bridge Completion

We are pleased to announce that the Harter Road Bridge is completed and open for traffic. Thanks to Keller Engineers, Wen-Brooke Construction for their speedy response to get the bridge completed and opened. Thanks to all township residents for their patience!
